Bennie F. Lee (87) was born on December 28, 1932 in Hopehill Frederick County, MD, to the late Joseph R. and Jennie C. Weedon Lee. He peacefully made his transition from this life on Monday, November 9, 2020 at Norton Healthcare Hospital in Louisville, KY. \r\n\r\nBennie F. Lee was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Frederick, MD in 1951. He joined the Army on March 17, 1953. During that time, he received a National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, United Nation's Service Medal and Korean Service Medal.\r\n\r\n On January 28, 1955, Bennie was honorably discharged from the Army of the United States. After his honorable discharged he made Louisville, KY his home.\r\n \r\nAt an early age Bennie accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was Baptized at Hopehill United Methodist Church. He rededicated his life and United with Shiloh Baptist Church in Louisville, KY. \r\n\r\nIn 1956 on July 14th he was united in Holy Matrimony to Carlyne Brown (Alexander). They raised two children James C. Brown and Mary Brown Standard (Mae Jean). They were married for 48 1/2 years until her death April 20, 2005. Bennie worked at Tube Turns Division in Louisville, KY from 1956 to 1965. From there he worked for Vertner Smith Distributor's Company until he retired. \r\n\r\nHe was a loving and caring husband and Dad. He was consistent, reliable and determined. Faithfully, for 70 years he traveled to Frederick, MD to celebrate The Lee Family Reunion held on July 4th . Except for this year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was a Virtual Lee Family Reunion by way of zoom on July 4, 2020, with most of the family participating. Bennie was a dialysis patient for 11 years. He "NEVER GAVE UP" or complained. He loved the Baltimore Raven's and University of Louisville games. His favorite TV programs were The Young and The Restless and Western movies. He drove to Shorty's Daily to play his favorite pick three numbers. He would only play 50 cents, but he won frequently. \r\nOn Sunday, November 9, 2020, the family had a virtual zoom with Bennie at the hospital. Little did we know the very next day he would pass away. \r\n\r\nBennie leaves to cherish his memories his devoted family, four children; James C. Brown (Melody), Mary Brown Standard (Mae Jean),Eric F. Lee (Melissa), and Mariea (Nikki) Lee; five sisters, Ms. Hilda Rodgers of Laurel, MD, Ms. Bernice Briscoe of Clinton, MD, Ms. Shirley Davis of Port Charlotte, FL, Ms. Jane Braswell and Mrs. Linda Worthington (Melvin) of Frederick, MD; five grandchildren, and two great grand-children; four sisters-in-law, Mrs. Viola Lee Carroll of Frederick, MD, Ms. Betty Lee of Sykesville, MD, Ms. JoeAnn Lee of Adamstown, MD, and Ms. Barbara Lee of Buckeystown, MD. Bennie is blessed with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.\r\n\r\nIn Heaven, he is now reunited with his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Joseph & Jennie Lee; eight brothers, Thomas, Richard, Jerry, Calvin, Sonny, Carl, Martin, and Gilbert Lee; two sisters, Mrs. Edna Lyles, and Ms. Bessie Brown.
