Charles Pryor, Jr., 87, passed away Saturday, September 8, 2018 at the Frederick Health and Rehabilitation Center in Frederick, MD. He was born August 30, 1931 in New London, MD, the son of the late Charles, Sr. and Cordelia Fossett Pryor. \n\nCharles attended Frederick County Public Schools. Charles married Bernice Lyles of Damascus, MD Christmas Day 1953. From this union came six children, Sandra, Larry, Joyce, Stevie, Maudelene and Charles, III. Charles worked as a construction worker and was a skilled carpenter. He was promoted to a supervisor at Dewey Jordan Construction Company, Frederick, MD. Charles worked there over 40 years. Charles was truly gifted and built his own lovely home in New London, MD, where he and Bernice lived for over 64 years. Charles, better known as "Charlie-Buck," enjoyed life, people and traveling. He was a member of Dorsey Christian Chapel in New London, MD, where he served faithfully as a member of the Board of Trustee until his illness forced him to resign. Charlie-Buck also served as a manager for the Tri Stan Singers for 37 years, as they traveled many places singing to the glory of God. \n\nCharles is survived by: his wife, Bernice Lyles Pryor; five children, Larry of Laramie, WY, Joyce Williams of Alexandria, VA, Stevie Pryor (Kathy) of Waynesboro, PA, Maudelene Pryor Brown of New London, MD, and Charles Pryor III, of New London, MD; adoptive son, Ross Jackson (Brenda) of Mt. Airy, MD; 13 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; Godson, Jamie Proctor, Jr.; brother, William Pryor of New London, MD; sisters-in-law, Roberta Johnson of York, PA and Gloria Lyles of Silver Spring, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family. He also leaves three very good friends/cousins, Mac Peach of CA, Herbert Dorsey of NJ, Waldo Jackson (Anita) of Wash., DC.\n\nCharles was preceded in death by: a daughter, Sandra Pryor Etheredge; a grandson, Anthony Hall; three sisters, Mildred Pryor Foreman, Dorothy Pryor Thompson and Maulene Pryor; 2 brothers, James Pryor and Walter Pryor. \n\nFuneral services and interment will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Dorsey Christian Chapel, 11851 Lime Plant Rd, New Market, MD 21774 at 11:00 a.m., with public viewing at 10:00 am. Bishop Washington will officiate.
