John Sidney Palmer entered eternal rest on Nov. 30, 2014, at his home. He was the husband of the late Margaret E. Palmer and son of the late Charles E. Palmer and Harriet Zenobia Summers Palmer.\n\nJohn was a graduate of Lincoln High School. He served in the Korean War. After his military service he worked many years for the federal government and retired from the Department of Energy. John was a faithful member of First Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed reading the newspaper and relaxing on his front porch.\n\nHe leaves to cherish his memory 3 sons, Dwight Palmer (Sandra), Wayne Palmer (Anne), and Cort Palmer (Sandra) all of Frederick, MD; sister, Anna Arlene Harris of Longmont, CO; daughter-in- law, Constance Palmer of Frederick, MD; 6 granddaughters; 7 grandsons; 26 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by 4 sons, Terry L. Palmer, Cornell "Ricky" Palmer, Anthony G. Palmer, and Barry L. Palmer; 2 daughters, Wanda J. Palmer and Annette "Netta" Palmer; brother, Earl T. Palmer; and 4 sisters, Eleanor "Liz" Brown, Jean L. Palmer, Zenobia J. Sneed, and Harriet E. Palmer. \n\nServices will be held on Friday, December 5, 2014, at First Missionary Baptist Church, 6430 Jefferson Pike, Frederick, MD. Public viewing is at 9 a.m., family will receive friends at 10 a.m. and the funeral will begin at 11 a.m.
