Barbara L. Jordan

Mrs. Barbara Lorraine Jordan, 74, of Frederick, MD, entered eternal life on Tues., Dec. 1, 2015, at College View Genesis Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. She was born Aug. 23, 1941, in Frederick, MD, to the late Leon F. and Charlotte P. Goines. Mrs. Barbara was the former wife of Johnnie Parker Jordan.

Barbara was a homemaker most of her life. She was a member of Quinn Chapel African Methodist Church. Mrs. Barbara was known to have family gatherings lasting for 2 days or more. She enjoyed celebrating life with music playing, children running around, games, entertaining family with her glorious laughter, and having a great time. She took care of many neighborhood children while their parents worked. She was an avid reader, loved bingo, and doing cross word puzzles. She took care of her mother in her home for many years.

She is survived by her children, Daryl Parker Jordan (Robin), Frederick, MD, Shawn Perez Jordan, Martinsburg, WV, and Trotez Leonard and Vaughn Simmons, Frederick, MD; 4 brothers, Michael, Frank L., William (Donna), and Stephen (Mary) Goines, all of Frederick, MD; 2 sisters, Betty Goines, Frederick, MD, and Leona Lamar (Edward), Seattle, WA; special aunt, Yvonne Thompson; 9 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Greg and Timothy Goines, and sister, Francis (Fan) Lee.

Services will be held on Sat., Dec. 12, 2015, at Jackson Chapel UMC, 5609 Ballenger Creek Pike, Frederick, MD, with a public viewing at 10 a.m., family hour at 11 a.m. and the funeral at 12 p.m. Pastor Luke J.
