Charles Edward Jones Sr., 56, of Hagerstown, MD, was called into eternal rest unexpectedly on Monday, December 30, 2019 at Holy Cross Health Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 15, 1963 in Frederick, MD, to Jane Ann Jones and the late William Edward Jones Sr. \r\n\r\nFor the last 12 years, Charles was a valued, trusted, honorable and dedicated employee at Blue Mountain Woodworks where he enjoyed everything about his job. He will be greatly missed by those who worked with him. \r\n\r\nCharles served our country proudly in the United States Army as a Driver and Mechanic Specialist from 1981 to 1988 and was awarded an honorable discharge. He was awarded badges for Army Lapel, Army Good Conduct and Parachute. He also received his Army Service Ribbon. \r\n\r\nThose who knew Charles knew he loved his family greatly. Charles enjoyed working on cars, especially his Mustang, playing cards, watching wrestling and Westerns, and spending quality time with family and friends. He was an avid Redskins fan.\r\n\r\nCharles is survived by his: significant other Charlene Stevenson of Hagerstown, MD; children Shantae Jones of Fayetteville, NC and Charles Edward Jones Jr. of Laurel, MD; and grandson Josiah Jones of Fayetteville NC. He is also survived by his: sister Mary Boyd and husband Larry of Frederick, MD; brothers William Jones Jr. and wife Judy of Hagerstown, MD and Joseph Morris of Frederick, MD; stepbrother Tyrin Snowden of Frederick, MD; devoted nieces Tracy Smith and Cassondra Weedon; and a host of nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, family, and friends. He was a grandfather mentor to Jeuriece Saul. He also leaves behind a very special devoted friend Eric Williamson of Middletown, MD. Charles was preceded by his father William Edward Jones Sr. and grandparents Sherman and Lena Jones, and Nellie Butler.\r\n\r\nA celebration of Charles's life will be held on Friday, January 10, 2020 at Jackson Chapel United Methodist Church, 5609 Ballenger Creek Pike, Frederick, MD. The viewing will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with funeral to follow. Interment will be held at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
