Charles Nechola (Puggy Barnes) Smith IV, 63 of Frederick, Maryland, passed away November 4, 2014. Born December 12, 1950, in Bluefield, West Virginia, he was the son of the late William Bernard Barnes Sr., Charles Nechola Smith III and Yvonne Dodson Barnes.\n\nOne of six children, Mr. Smith was educated in the Frederick County Public School System. He studied at Bluefield State College in West Virginia before enlisting in the United States Navy. He is a Vietnam War veteran with an honorable discharge, a retired employee of East Alcoa Aluminum Plant, a retired employee of the Frederick County Public School system and a devoted member, supporter and friend of the Carrington House in Baltimore, Maryland. He was a loving husband, father, brother and friend to many with a kind and giving heart and was respectfully referred to by many as "Mr. Charles." Mr. Smith was a former member of the First Missionary Baptist Church of Frederick, a former member of Downtown Community Church of Frederick, and a current member of International Community Church in Frederick.\n\nMr. Smith leaves to cherish his precious memory; a devoted wife, Pamela Luby Smith, three sons, Brandon Smith, Bryan Smith, Namar Luby (Patricia); one daughter, Jamie Cromwell; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, Wayne Barnes and William Barnes Jr. (Louise); four sisters, Barbara Smith, Donna Jenkins (David), Angela Twine (Johnny Mac), and Treva Barnes; a loving aunt, Rita Anderson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and loving devoted friends.\n\nA viewing will be held on Friday, November 14, 2014 at Gary L. Rollins Funeral Home, 110 W. South St., Frederick, MD. Public viewing will begin at 4:00 p.m. and the family will receive visitors and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 101 W All Saints St., Frederick, MD. Public viewing will be at 9: 00 a.m., family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. and funeral will begin at 11:00 a.m.
