Charlotte Delany Kenney, affectionately known as "Tooney and Noone" passed away Monday, March 15, 2021. Born in Freedman's Hospital on January 19th, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Evelyn and Charles Kenney.\r\n\r\nShe and her 4 siblings were raised in Washington, DC where she attended Calvin Coolidge High School, graduating in 1968. She also attended Federal City College in Washington DC\r\nHer first job was as a teller at the National Bank of Washington until its closing in 1987. After moving to Gaithersburg MD, she began working for the Montgomery County Public School system as a Resource Aide at Fields Road Elementary School. There she developed long-lasting friendships with students and staff. \r\n\r\nCharlotte also worked for the city of Gaithersburg where she ran summer camps and after-school activities. She is still remembered by many for her warmth and compassion.\r\nEarly in her adult life, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was active in the Van Buren United Methodist Church Gospel Choir. Charlotte loved to sing. She was also active in the youth group programs.\r\n\r\nHer proudest moment was when her son Shawn was born; 5 days before her birthday. He was a blessing in her life. Her love for Shawn was the biggest part of her heart.\r\nCharlotte was a blessing to many others in her life. She was a surrogate mother to Velvet Long-Walker, Crystal Dixon, Jessica Long and Eric Long. Her lessons in the meaning of love, compassion and servant leadership were taught first hand.\r\n\r\nIn addition to her parents, Charlotte was preceded in death by two brothers, William Johnson and Charles Kenney Jr.; one sister, Patricia Kenney and nephew Dennis Kenney.\r\nHer loving spirit and warm nature will be cherished and shared forever by her son, Shawn (Lisa); brother, Albert Kenney (Sylvia); three grandsons, Deonta, Paris and London. A host of other close family and friends.\r\n\r\nIt is with great sadness that we say goodbye to a very special person.
