Mrs. Constance (Connie) Lorraine Palmer, 69 of Frederick, MD; entered eternal rest September 24, 2018 at Frederick Memorial Hospital after an extended battle with cancer. Connie was the daughter of the late Walter W. Bowie and Etta M. Bowie. \n\nConnie was a graduate of the 1967 inaugural class at Governor Thomas Johnson High School. She was a member of the basketball, track and field and volleyball team and glee club. She was employed at National Geographic for 20 years and later retired from Wells Fargo. Connie was a member of Wayman A.M.E Church. Prior to joining Wayman, she was a member of St. James A.M.E Church. At Wayman, she was a Church School Teacher, member of the Trustee Board, Stewardess Board, Missionary Society, Voices of Joy Church Choir, Usher Board, and Hospitality Committee. \n\nConnie had many hobbies and interests. She loved music, singing, gardening, nature, cooking and spending time with her family. Her greatest joy was serving the Lord and other people; often visiting with the homeless and those in nursing homes, providing meals for church members and she always had an encouraging word.\n\nSurviving are: natural children, Terri Anne Palmer, Vixen Whisner (Eric) and Amanda Lovell (Kwame); surrogate children, Anthony Bowie (Carla), Kimberly Bowie and Tonya Offord; all of Frederick, MD; grandsons, Gabriel Whisner and Abram Whisner; one brother, Douglas Bowie of Harrisburg, Pa; and one sister Martha Boyd (Maurice), of Frederick, MD; nieces and nephews, Michelle Baskett, Thomas Harrison III, Robert Harrison, Douglas Bowie, Richard Bowie, Lamont Doye, Katisha Anderson, Ivy Bowie and Jerry Covington; aunts, Celestine Dixon and Ellen Ray; uncles, Gilbert Bowie (Betty), Paul Bowie (Dorothy) and William Bowie (Veronica); and numerous cousins and friends. \n\nConnie was preceded in death by: her husband, Terry Lee Palmer; and sister, Beverly M. Bowie.\n\nThe family will receive friends Sunday, September 30, 2018 at Gary L. Rollins Funeral Home; 110 West South Street, Frederick, MD 21701; 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Homegoing services will be held Monday, October 1, 2018, at Wayman A.M.E. Church, 9940 Liberty Road, Frederick MD. There will be a viewing at 10 a.m., and the funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Rev. Robert Ray, officiating. \n\nInterment will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. \n\nArrangements are by Gary L.
