Cordarrin Smallwood Obituary (1989

Mr. Cordarrin Cortez Smallwood, 30, of Rockville passed away after a heroic battle with cancer on January 9, 2020 at NIH Clinical Center. Cordarrin, affectionately known as Cordy, was born on November 12, 1989 in Frederick, MD. He was a 2007 graduate of Governor Thomas Johnson High School. Before his illness, Cordy was employed by Sunrise Assisted Living in Bethesda, MD as a Business Office Manager. Cordarrin had dreams of opening a Smoothie Shop. All who knew him knows he would have made that happen. Cordy loved to travel and would do so often and to put it in his words, "Living my best life." He also enjoyed attending music concerts and attended one recently while celebrating his 30th birthday. His love for music came from his childhood aspirations of being a disc jockey. He would always joke about doing a podcast, "The Cor Cortez Show". Cordy was an amazing son, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend. He leaves behind to cherish his memories his: parents, mother, Caroline Thomas (David); father, Karlos Smallwood (Katina); 2 brothers, Rashad and Jordan; 2 sisters, Saniya and Raven; grandmothers, Paula Bowie and Margaret Bowens; great grandmother, Emmeta Smallwood; godmother, Angie Smallwood; "special cousin," Tia Newsome; niece, Trinity; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He shared a very loving bond with devoted Aunt and caretaker, April Disney. In addition to family, Cordy leaves behind special friends: Antrez Larry, Chassity Proctor, Akousou Osel-Yaw, David Johnson, and Ishmeal Ferguson. Cordy was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Clifton Bowens, Sr. and Ricky Bowie, Sr., and great grandmother, Bessie Ragland.
