Darcel A. Sanders, affectionately known as "Doc," was born on November 11, 1953, in Baltimore City, Maryland, to the late James Albert West, Sr., and the late Edna Doritha West.\r\n\r\nDarcel was a lifelong resident of Baltimore City. She received her education from the Baltimore City Public School system. Her passion for helping people led her to the field of nursing. She received her nursing certification from The Caroline Center for Nursing. She went on to receive her certification as a Heart Technician from St. Joseph Hospital, where she worked for over twenty-five (25) years. She also worked at Holly Hill Nursing Home and Union Memorial Hospital. Prior to working in the field of nursing, Darcel worked at Oles Envelope Company and BWI airport. \r\n\r\nDarcel loved children; she referred to young men in the family as "her boys." In fact, Darcel was so loving of children and family, she opened her door to anyone in need. She never turned anyone down who needed help. Darcel loved her family and was very protective of them. \r\n\r\nThe Holiday season was always a very special time of year for Darcel. She loved the holidays and made sure she showered her family with love and affection. Being surrounded by family and hosting family gatherings were the highlight of everyone's holiday season. \r\n\r\nDarcel leaves to cherish her memory: son, Zachery Steven Dingle and wife, Liset Dingle; daughter, Megan Finnette Sanders; sons (that she raised as her own), Terrell and Troy West; granddaughters, Kamaria Dingle, Brooklyn Spears, Makayla Boone; grandsons, Kojo Dingle and Terrell West; brothers, Daniel West and Pierre West; sisters, Barbara West, Faith Pridget, Finnette Willis, Tina West, Melody West, and Hope West; stepmother, Maryland West; best friend, Jane Downs; along with a host of nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. \r\n\r\nDarcel was preceded in death by her: spouse, Avery Jerome Sanders, a military veteran; late sister, Shirley Webb; and brothers, Richard West, Phillip West, and James Albert West, Jr.
