Destiny Alexandria Montez, 26, of Hagerstown, MD, was called to her eternal home on Friday, April 21, 2023.
Destiny was born on September 23, 1996, at Cobb Promina Hospital Family Birthing Center in Austell, Georgia.
Destiny was the sweetest and most beautiful and loving baby anyone could ever want to meet. She brought so much love and joy to the lives of her family and so many others. Destiny was the kind of person who touched and captured your heart from the beginning. She was so adorable, full of life, and was loved dearly. Destiny had everyone wrapped around her little fingers and she knew it. It was always all about Destiny.
As a child, Destiny loved to eat, take pictures, play dress up and read books. During shopping trips, she would pick a book, sit in the cart and read as we shopped. Destiny was just that special piece of everyone and you couldn't help but to love her and you knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that she loved you back. She had the biggest, most forgiving and loving heart. She had a small speech impediment and some words she couldn't pronounce correctly. But we always knew exactly what she tried to say even though most of her words started with a "D".
When she was in elementary school, we moved to Frederick and joined Thomas Tabernacle Holiness Church of God, Inc. She later joined the dance team ministry and the choir. Every time she was given a solo part to sing, my tears would flow uncontrollably. The Lord left me breathless because I knew in that moment, she was His.
When Destiny graduated from Frederick High School in 2014, I had to be one of the happiest mothers alive. I often told her with a smile, "That is my diploma and don't touch it!". She would laugh and say her favorite word/name of all times, "Mom!"
At the tender age of 20, Destiny became a mother to a talented baby girl she named Illiana. Later she gave birth to a handsome son, Landon, Inzo as she affectionately called him, and lastly to her darling baby girl, Lyric. They all loved and adored their mother and Destiny truly loved and adored her three babies just the same. They would always tell me, "Gigi, I'm going to Mommy's house".
Destiny was also an amazing cook and hostess among so many other things. My personal favorite was her honey ginger chicken. She would cook the meal, plate it, serve it and break down the kitchen in a matter of what seemed to be seconds. When she was done the kitchen sparkled as if no one had ever cooked just minutes before.
I unequivocally loved and adored my Destiny. There was nothing I would not do for her and there was no length I would not go to protect her. My daughter, Des, as I often called her, was the first true love of my life and a piece of me has gone with her. Oh, how I long to hear her running up the steps calling out, "Mom".
Destiny leaves to cherish her beautiful memory, her children, Illiana, Landon, and Lyric; mother and stepfather, Michelle and Anthony Johnson; father, Antonio Montez, Jr; maternal grandmother, Hattie Davison; one brother Devin Johnson; two sisters Madison Montez and Dylan Johnson; five uncles, Stephen (Margaret) Davison, Charles Davison, Christopher (Tara) Davison, German Montez, and Nasareo (Julissa) Montez; two aunts, Brenda (Vincent) Story and Katrelle (Jermaine) Hetherington; two great aunts, Jacqueline Miller and Rosemary Botsio; godparents, Apostle Tangela Brooks and John Brooks; one god-brother, Jamaal Bryant; three god-sisters, Jasmine Brooks, Camori Ortiz and Supriya Moye'; and a host of cousins, church family, extended family and friends.
