Eleanor Davis

–

Frederick, MD

Eleanor Martha (Baltimore) Davis, 94, affectionately known as “Mom,” “Mumma,” “Nan,” “El,” and “Shortie,” of Frederick, Maryland, peacefully passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Eleanor was born on January 26, 1932, in Manassas, Virginia, to the late Deacon and Deaconess Raymond and Mildred Baltimore. She spent her early years in Delaplane, VA, and graduated from Manassas Regional High School in 1950. She moved to Frederick, Maryland, where she built a beautiful life centered around faith, family, hard work, and community. Eleanor married Conard Barton Davis, Sr., and together they raised 4 beautiful children.

Eleanor accepted the Lord at an early age at Beulah Baptist Church in Markham, Virginia. She went on to become a devoted member of First Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a member for more than 60 years. She served on the Usher Board and was an active member of the Dorothy Allen Missionary Ministry until she was no longer able to serve. She regularly attended Bible studies and loved attending the Lott Carey Baptist Convention. Her family knew her as a true prayer warrior who never hesitated to lift her loved ones up in prayer.

Eleanor spent much of her life caring for others. She was employed at Peter Pan Inn, J.M. Buckenheimer Sewing Factory, provided daycare for family, was a domestic employee, and later retired from Airpax in 1994. She also had a special talent for finding a bargain. Give her a thrift store and a little time, and she was in her happy place!

Eleanor enjoyed staying active and enjoying life. She was an avid walker; she loved to read and dance, and enjoyed traveling, especially with the “6-Pack Crew.” She took pride in always looking her best and made sure her hair was done and in place. Eleanor loved returning to Virginia to spend time with her parents and family, creating memories that would last a lifetime.

And then there was her famous applesauce cake. A family favorite, it was more than just a dessert; it was a taste of Nan’s love and a memory that will live on in the kitchens and hearts of those who enjoyed it.

Eleanor’s greatest legacy was the family she loved so deeply. She will be remembered for her faith, strength, humor, style, and the little things that made her uniquely Nan. She leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will be cherished by her family and friends and passed down through generations. Though her earthly journey has come to an end, the love she gave, the lessons she taught, and the memories she created will remain forever.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Barbara Ann Davis, Paula Davis, and Patricia Spencer (Rudolph); son, Conard B. Davis, Jr. (Angela); grandchildren, Tamaika (Mike), Lakisha (Bj), Rudolph Joshua (Ciera), Sakeena, Tawana, Oshia, Brittany (Joe), Conard III, Tamacia Shay, LaTosha, Timothy, Troy, Ivory (Frank), Tyran, and Darrick (Essence); 18 great grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; special niece, Gail West; friend of many years, Maggie Heffner; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Conard Barton Davis, Sr.; brothers, Bolling and Robert Baltimore; daughter, Linda Snowden; and grandsons, Robert Davis, Justin Davis, and Isaiah Thompson.

Rest peacefully, Nan. Your work here is done.
