Erminie Wars Obituary (1950

Elder Erminie Ruth Wars, 69, of Frederick, MD, was called home on Sunday, January 26, 2020. Erminie was born November 17, 1950 to Charles Robert Wars, Sr. and the late Edith Leakins Wars. Erminie was educated in the Frederick County Public School system, graduating from Frederick High School in 1968. She received her B.S. Degree and Masters equivalent in Early Childhood Education at Morgan State University. She was a highly skilled educator at New Market Elementary School. In 2003, she retired after 32 years of dedicated service. Erminie was an avid sports fan and loved to share her love of sports with family and friends. She even coached basketball for many years and absolutely loved watching professional tennis. Erminie was a lifelong member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Frederick, MD. In recent years, she became a member and Ordained Elder of BWC - Urbana, where she continued her love for the Word of God and the people of God. Elder Erminie loved all people everywhere but she had a special place in her heart for children of all ages. Though she had no biological children, Erminie helped to raise many children spanning multiple generations. She had a particularly close relationship with her great-niece Raya who was more like a daughter to her and who lived with her for many years. Raya affectionately calls her MOM. She loved her family and ministering the Word of God. She showed it in her many sacrifices and acts of kindness and generosity towards family, friends and others. She was a humble and faithful servant who was dedicated to sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She leaves to cherish her memory: brothers, Byron (Marilyn), Charles, Jr. (Kathleen), Leak (Ronnelle - deceased), Wayne (Pamela), and Darrell (Patricia); nieces, Ulesia, Dawn, Keona (DZ), Nicole, Elise, Deanna (Wayne), Leanne, and Michelle; nephews, Raynard, Byron Jr. (aka BJ), Nicholas, Noah, Tieray, Marvin, and Thomas (aka Turk); great-nieces and nephews, Raya, Shannon, Camari, Drew, Brandon, Nina, Zoi, Zion, Zaylah, Khori, Dayna, Ariele, and Alishia; brother-in-law, Timothy Overs; best friend, Phyllis Weedon; close family member, Alta Kraft; and numerous cousins, extended family, friends, and church family. She was preceded in death by her: mother, Edith Leakins Wars; sisters, Maria, Elaine and Alcyone; brothers, Thomas Sr. and David; sister-in-law, Ronnelle (aka Lovie); and brother-in-law, Vance.
