Errol Nathaniel Allen, 73, departed this earthly life on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Walter Reed Military Medical Center, with his family by his side. Errol was born on May 29, 1945 in Frederick, MD, the son of the late Elmo and Thelma Bowie Allen. \n\nErrol was a graduate of Frederick High School Class of 1964, going on to serve in the United States Army, where he was a Vietnam Veteran. He co-partnered with his brother Gary, running their own business, G & A Enterprise, for more than 30 years. He was also a driver for his cousin, Byron Bowie, who was a writer and director for the musical group the Dells. He traveled all over the United States. He was a great inspiration to Byron and all the singers and musicians that he met.\n\nErrol started attending St. James AME Church at an early age, joining and giving his life to the Lord as a young adult. Errol rededicated his life to the Lord under the direction of Rev. Richard McNair, while he was a patient at Walter Reed Military Medical Center. He spent many years caring for his aunt, Edna B. Dykes, and after her passing he stayed in the home and continued to care for his uncle, Russell Dykes. He was a kind and attentive caregiver and was a life saver for both during the last years of their lives. He was loved by everyone who knew him because of his incredible kindness, electrifying smile, joking manner as well as his pleasant attitude towards everyone. He showed great joy when surrounded by family and friends and always kept them laughing. Many described Errol as "the most generous and funniest person you would ever meet." He had a smile and good word for everyone. He loved music, especially oldies but goodies, his favorite being "I Stand Accused," which you could hear him singing anywhere folks were willing to listen. Second to music, he loved fried chicken and would walk a mile for it or send someone else the mile. Errol was like a father to Corey Davis, to whom he attributed his sobriety to. He had a special place his heart for all children. Errol was a good family man, always concerned about them and willing to do what he could to help them when needed.\n\nErrol's loving memory will be cherished forever by: his devoted brother, Gary Allen of Columbia, MD; two sisters, Valerie Allen, of Frederick, MD, Janet Moore (Robert) of Cary, NC; loving cousins, Peggy, Wickie & Barney Bowie; sister-cousins, Bonnie Sanders and Wanda Naylor; special nephew, Kevin Allen; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. \nIn addition to his parents, Errol was preceded in death by: two brothers, Elmo Allen and Steve Allen; one sister, Helen Allen; and "little angel," Corey Davis. \n\nFuneral Services for Mr. Allen will be Friday, August 3, 2018 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 101 West All Saints Street, Frederick, MD at 11:00 A.M., with public viewing and family hour at 10:00. Interment will immediately follow services at Bartonsville Cemtery, 5710 Hines Road, Frederick, MD. Rev. Richard McNair will officiate.
