Hanford "Ham" Richard Thomas, Sr. passed away on August 27, 2022, at his home in Bartonsville, MD. He was born on January 25, 1925 to the late Lawrence Brightful, Sr. and Rev. Geraldine Thomas-Davis.Hanford received his general studies education from Lincoln High School. Hanford drove the school bus for Frederick County Public Schools for many, many years until his retirement. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed playing cards and was very good at it. He leaves behind to cherish his memories his: wife, Dorothy Thomas; son, Hanford Thomas, Jr.; daughters, Linda Ambush, Mary Agnes Lyles, Darlene Thomas, and Kimberly Thomas; stepson, Anthony Thomas (Melissa); brother, Bruce Davis; son-in-law, Garnett Coad, Sr.; grandchildren, David Thomas (Caroline), Stacey Simon (Tyres), Antoine Thomas (Tylisa), Keith Thomas, Crystal Thomas, Garnett Coad, Jr., Kristin Coad, and Kylie Thomas; great grandchildren, Shatez, Kameron and Kamonte` Simon, Brianna Thomas, Kyana Thomas, Quincy and Landen Thomas, Garnett Thomas III, Dakota Coad, and Aiden, Ethan, and Andrea Coad; great great grandchildren, Bryson Thomas and Maya Simon; aunt, MC Gruder Randolph (eldest living aunt at 103 years young); nieces, Patricia Gunn (Pete), Shirley Fossett (Eugene), and Sandra Rollins (David); and special friends, Patricia Fowler, Larry Spencer, Lawrence "Man" Brightful, IV, Mary Overs, Gina Williams, and Harold and Renee Wilks.He was preceded in death by his: parents; stepfather, Sherwood Davis; daughters, Donna Coad and Debra Thomas; brothers, Lawrence Ray Brightful, Jr. (Dorothy) and Herman Brightful (Edna); uncles, Mervin Thomas (Thelma); niece, Barbara Jean Brightful; and sons-in-law, Gregory Ambush and Jerome Lyles.
