Hattie G. Wars

Hattie Wars, 87, of Frederick, MD, went home to be with the Lord on April 1, 2017. She was born September 30, 1929, to the late William O. Lee and Grace Hopkins of New Market, MD.

Hattie graduated from Lincoln High School in Frederick, MD. She gave her life to the Lord and was committed to serving Him. She was a lifelong member of Asbury United Methodist Church where she served on several committees. Hattie sang on the Senior Choir and the Souls on Fire Choir.

Hattie was employed at Snow White Grill, Downtowner Restaurant, and Frederick Memorial Hospital where she worked for over 30 years. She was an awesome baker and opened her bakery business at the Farmer's Market at the Fairground in 1989. She retired from FMH in 2003 and spent her time baking for her business, Ms. Hattie Goodies.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Goldie Bowins and Alice Butler, Frederick, MD, and Mary Long (Jerome), Germantown, MD; son, Eugene Hopkins, Baltimore, MD; grandchildren, Larry Tyler, Sr., Shelia Walker, Christina Perry, Keneka Wars, and Charles Butler III; 9 great grandchildren; sister, Marjorie Hoy, New Market, MD; brother-in-law, Charles Wars, Sr. (Edith); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Beverly James; son, Wayne Wars; and grandson, Frankie Tyler.
