Herbert H. Thomas Obituary (1929 - 2016)

Mr. Herbert "Herbie" H. Thomas, 86, of Frederick, MD, was touched by an Angel, on Tuesday, March 08, 2016. He was born June 19, 1929, to the late Charles Thomas and Alverta (Gray) Thomas-Fossett. Herbie had a love for driving dump trucks as he worked for F.O. Day, Ralph Spriggs, and retired as a driver from the University of Maryland. He had a passion for bowling and had been in a league in Laurel, MD. He also enjoyed playing cards, horse racing and softball. He leaves behind to cherish his memory: wife, Marva Thomas (Laurel, MD), 3 daughters, Sarah Hoy (William), Salisbury, MD, Marsha Preston (Frederick, MD) and Cheryl Johnson (Ronald), Frederick, MD; 4 sons, Lawrence Davis (Carolyn), New Port News, VA, and Wayne, Darrell, and Wendell Thomas, all of Frederick, MD; 1 stepdaughter, Terri Singleton; 5 stepsons, Charles, Allen, William, Marvin, and Pastor Devan Hebron, all of Laurel MD; 12 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and devoted friends, Hanford Thomas and Reginald Davis. In addition to his parents, Herbie was preceded in death by 2 sons, Leslie Thomas Sr., and Jerome "Wheat Moe" Thomas; 3 sisters, Carrie, Ada, and Rachael; 3 brothers, Dennis, Jesse, and Bradley; and a great granddaughter, Takeyha Thomas.
