James "Rocky" Hill

James Edward Hill, better known as Rocky, age 74, of Frederick, MD passed away peacefully at Frederick Memorial Hospital on May 30, 2020. Born October 8, 1945 in Frederick, MD, he was the son of the late Thomas D. Hill, Sr. and Margaret Hill. Rocky was raised by his loving grandmother, the late Doris (Tuts) Hill.

He attended Frederick High School. Rocky was a member of the Islamic Society of Frederick, MD where he is known as Wali.

Rocky enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his great grandchild, telling them all kinds of stories (even if most of them weren't true). You could always find him at the Weis Market buying his nightly snack of ice cream and chocolate chip cookies. He also was a loyal and faithful patron of Denny's Restaurant on Rt. 40. Rocky enjoyed hand dancing and was Frederick County's first Uber Driver before the name Uber even came out. He had a lot of clients that never made it to work, school or any other destination on time. He had a personality that was unmatched.

His memories will be cherished by his: sons, Derwin L. Hill, Sr. of FL, and Terrence M. Bowman of PA; grandchildren, Derwin L. Hill Jr., Kenneth Hill, Kendra Hill, Re'naya Hill, Amaya Hill, Ja'mir Hill, Khera Bowman, Terrence M. Bowman II, Tre M. Bowman, and Tremaine M. Bowman; great granddaughter, Zay Hill; bonus grandson, Michael Raiford; brother, Thomas D. Hill, Jr.; sister, Brenda Hill; and aunt, Annabelle Johnson (Odell), NC. Rocky is also survived by his: best friend Peggy Hill, who he affectionally called "Tulips;" devoted friend, Janise Hill; special friends, James Brown, Jr. (Nume), John Thomas, Sr. (Stick), Aaron Duckett, Mr. and Mrs. Rickey Hartsock, and Rosa Rivera and family. He will also be remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Rocky was preceded in death by his: son, Jermaine L. Hill, Sr. (on May 20, 2018); grandson, Jermaine L. Hill, Jr. (Jay) on Nov. 2, 2017; uncles, James Posey and Harry Hill, Jr,; and grandmother, Fannie Posey.

The family would like to thank the Medical Staff at Frederick Memorial Hospital 4A & B and Hospice of Frederick County. Interment was held at Al-Firdaus Memorial Gardens in Frederick, MD. A memorial service to honor Rocky's life and memory will be held at a later date.
