Jerome Thomas

Jerome A. "Wheatmoe" Thomas, 51, was touched by an angel on Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at the Kline Hospice House in Mount Airy, MD. Jerome was born on September 8, 1963, in Frederick, MD, to Herbert Thomas and the late Lorraine Thomas.

Jerome grew up in Frederick, MD and graduated from Governor Thomas Johnson High School. After graduating, he began working for Tamko, Walmart, and Hood College. Jerome recently joined St. James AME Church, Bartonsville, MD. He enjoyed riding his scooter, fishing, and cooking pigs' feet and was an avid Redskins fan.

Jerome is survived by: his companion of 33 years, Sarah Bowie; two sons, Durrell and Dontrell of Frederick, MD; sister, Cheryl (Ronald) of Frederick, MD; four brothers, Lawrence (Carolyn) of Newport News, VA, Darrell, Wendell, and Wayne all of Frederick, MD; one aunt Janet Davis; five grandchildren, Nyyima, Durrell Jr., Indie, Jamauri, and Ahmani; two goddaughters, Markia Smith and Nakea Thomas; special great-nephew, Tilon Jr.; step-mother, Marva Thomas; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He also leaves to cherish his memory: special friend, Billy Jenkins; cousins, Blair Hoy, Conrad Davis, and Vincent Moore; Mr. & Mrs. Paul Bowie, Linda, Paulette, Bonnie (Edward), Brenda, Michelle (Alan), Anthony, and Larry Carter (deceased).

In addition to his mother, Jerome was preceded in death by his brother, Leslie Thomas; grandmothers, Alverta Fossett and Ruth Brooks; and uncles, Vaughn and Robert Davis.

Services will be held Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 101 West All Saints Street, Frederick, MD. Visitation will be at 9:00 a.m., family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. and the funeral will begin at 11:00 a.m. Pastor C. Michelle Langston officiating.
