Joanne Ayala

Joanne Marie Ayala, 56, of Germantown, MD, was born June 19, 1965, in Prince Georges County, MD. She was the daughter of late Ronald Joe McCarthy, Sr., and Linda Jane McCarthy. She passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022, at 10:07 p.m. at Holy Cross Hospital in Germantown, MD.

Joanne was a devoted member of Frederick Lighthouse Church in Frederick, MD. She was a dedicated wife and mother as well as an incredible "Aunt Wan" to all her nieces and nephews. She was a very loving and compassionate person who was always reaching out to make sure everyone was taken care of. For the last several years, through God's calling, Joanne fulfilled her passion for others with her greeting card ministry. She poured her heart and soul into every card she wrote and sent.

She is survived by her: husband of 36 years, Nelson Ayala; son, Jeff McCarthy of Charles Town, WV; sister, Sherry Simpson of Gambrills, MD; two brothers, Joey McCarthy, and wife, Tara, of Summit Point, WV and Chris McCarthy and wife, Cate, of Charles Town, WV; sister-in-law, Silvia Ayala of Woodbridge, VA; fifteen nieces and nephews, Yonas, Aliyah, Marissa, Haylee, Emiley, Johnny, Bryson, Marcus, Ryan, Josh, Sean, Kelly, Jack "Pooh Bear", Yovanis, and Jonathan; and one great-niece, Valentina "Big Puddin."
