Leonard Robert Smith Sr. "Butch" passed away on May 31, 2021. He was Born on October 25, 1950, to Alice & Robert Lee Smith Sr. Butch was the oldest brother who always had a take-charge attitude with his siblings (all 10 of them). In his mid to late 20 Butch meet his wife, Janet, together they have six children Joan Smith, Najole Alexander (married to Germalye Alexander Sr.), Kevin Smith Sr. (married to Gloria Scott) Patrice Smith, Leonard Robert Smith Jr. (Leo), and Annette Smith. Together the lovely couple has a total of 19 grandkids. He is preceded in death by his sisters Francis and Josephine. Butch grew up in Washington DC, where he graduated from Cardozo High School and obtained several certifications one being in Auto Mechanic. Butch always maintained employment be it as a Mechanic, Security Officer, or his last job as a Delivery Specialist for The National Geographics from which he retired. Butch took pride in his family, love of music, cars, and his self-taught architectural and guitar skills. \r\n\r\nButch as he was so well known, was the life of every party, he was very handy and helpful, also filled with an abundance of history. He always had time to fix whatever was broken on a vehicle, he would welcome you in to visit Leonardtown, Butchville, and Big Foot City all landmarks which he created from scratch (these places had all the amenities possible) or would play music and smile like a child on Christmas day.\r\n\r\nButch also leaves behind a friend of over 60 years, to whom the family has embraced as a brother, Mr. Bernard Alexander. The services for Leonard will be held at the Gary L. Rollins Funeral Home on Thursday, June 10, 2021, with a 9:30 a.m. viewing, 10 a.m. family hour, 11 a.m. funeral services, followed by burial at Fairview Cemetery.
