Reverend Linda Lee Helms, 69, of Frederick, MD, departed this life after a lengthy illness on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD surrounded by her family. She was born on March 11, 1951 to the late William "Mutt" Diggs and Thelma Gray Ambush. She was the loving and devoted wife of William "Richard" Helms for 51 years.\r\n\r\nLinda grew up in DIckerson, MD, affectionately known as Greenfield. She attended Doubs Elementary School and graduated from Frederick High School in 1969. She married her high school sweetheart in 1969. After being a stay-at-home mom, she was employed at Geico Insurance Company, Prudential Home Mortgage, State Farm, and the Frederick City Housing Authority. The latter job was her favorite by far. There, she was able to use her God-given gift of encouragement as Self Sufficiency Coordinator. She birthed a program that was called "Imagine Me" and would invite speakers to share their success stories with those residing in the Frederick Housing Communities. She was ordained on March 29, 2019 as Local Elder in the AME Church. This, by far, was her greatest accomplishment. Linda loved encouraging others and would often put others before her own needs. Her love for Jesus and sharing the gospel was in her DNA. Her hobbies included buying books, books and more books. If you wrote it or told her you knew someone who wrote it, she would have it in her collection.
