Markkus Elijah Barnes Obituary (1996

Markkus Elijah Barnes went home to be with the Lord after a tragic motorcycle accident on Tuesday October 20, 2020 in Washington County, Maryland. He was born March 3, 1996 to Kijana Chontell Dorsey and James Bruce Barnes. Markkus attended Frederick High School and was a graduate of the 2014 class. After graduating from high school, he worked at various jobs, but his love and passion was being a caregiver for those in need. He worked in the private sector for Unified Connections until the very end. Markkus loved the outdoors, he was an avid skate boarder, he loved to go dirt bike riding, practicing at the shooting range, and most of all he loved to go fishing with his dad and his best friend Michael. Better known as "Our Mark" was loved by many. He was a beautiful soul with a heart of gold. He loved all his family, but he had a special love affair with his grandmother (Nanny). He took her on lunch dates, and he recently drove her to the mountains so she could see the beautiful color of the leaves as they were changing colors for fall. Markkus went to live with Nanny when he was three months old, and their love affair will always remain. He will always be her "shining star". In addition to his parents, he leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, Mailani Relaford-Barnes; grandmother, Judith Marie Barnes; grandfather, David Dorsey; stepfather, Farook Greene; brother, Keonte Williams-Wilford; sisters, Alexis Barnes, Kiara Dorsey, and Sincere Fulcher; aunts, Tonya Barnes, Paula (Shelly) Barnes, Chrissy Thompson, June Thompson, Danielle Dorsey, Jewel Dorsey and Dakota Dorsey; uncles, Davis Dorsey, Jeremy Wilson, David Dorsey Jr and Derrick Shern; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He also leaves his devoted companion, Dominique Choisy; devoted friends, Michael Rogflak and Mikie Leofher. Markkus was preceded in death by his: grandfather, James (Sonny) Thompson; grandmother, Ida Shern Dorsey; uncles, Mark Barnes, Gerald (Jack Rabbit) Shern, and Charles (Butch) Shern; and aunt, Janice (Billie) Dorsey.
