Madam Mary Amoasoh " Grandma's Tribute \r\n\r\nHistory\r\n\r\nMadam Mary Louisa Nana Amoasoh, affectionately called "Mama" and "Grandma" was born on the 20th of March, 1938 by Opanin Kofi Badu and Madam Grace Awuah ( Alias Abena Brenya), of blessed memory. She lived 82 years and completed her assigned work on Earth.\r\n\r\nSchool and Work\r\n\r\nOur mother, completed her Middle school education in Banko-Efiduase in Ghana, West Africa. She became a Nurse Assistant at a midwifery Home in Kumasi after middle school. She then proceeded to the St. Monica's Midwifery Training College, Mampong Ashanti Region also in Ghana. She worked all her life as a Midwife in Towns and Villages as a lover of the needy. Her midwifery life cycle was affectionately recognized at places like Afrancho-Clinic in the Ashanti region, Agogo Presbyterian Hospital-Ashanti Akim, Gyedu, Nsokor ,Sunyani, Bomaa, Techiman, Tanoso all in the Brong- Ahafo Region . She was finally transferred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kumasi where she worked till her retirement. In September 2004 ,she won Best Nurse Award in the Region and finally awarded the Best Midwife of the Year at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.\r\n\r\nFamily life\r\n\r\nShe was the first Born of 10 siblings. She married to Mr. Roger Samuel Osei of Banko-Effiduase in which she was blessed with 3 daughters, Salome, Jemima & her late twin-sister. Later, she married the late Charles Kwadwo Bour of Badu. She was again blessed with two daughters, Nana Serwaa and Maame Brenya. Besides taking care of her nuclear family, she became the backbone of her extended family, all her nine siblings, nephews and nieces were cared for by Grandma as the only educated young woman of her age in the family at that time.\r\nBesides, her own biological children, siblings, nephews and nieces, she took care of over 50 more needy children to school and colleges.\r\n\r\nUnited States Life\r\n\r\nGrandma moved to America after her retirement in Ghana in September 2004. She was a very positive person though she had kidney failure in 2005. Had multiple hospital and nursing home admissions with multiple surgeries. Grandma survived kidney failure for over 15 years till death laid its icy hand on her on 24th April, 2020, at Frederick memorial hospital, Maryland a day we will never forget. \r\n\r\nReligious life\r\n\r\nMama was a devoted Methodist and therefore instilled the fear of God in her children and all those who got the opportunity to be trained by her. She was initially worshiping with House of Prayer Evangelist ministry, Gaithersburg, Maryland She died as a member of Church of Redeemer, Gaithersburg Campus and a member of Drama and sewing Club. She also was Affiliated church member of World Ministry International Church, Germantown, Maryland. Grandma has so many Children and Grandchildren as she accepts anyone as her own with no discrimination among anybody. She is the mother that brings peace to marriages with her advices and counseling, and a generous person in giving and sharing of LOVE to all. \r\nHer greatest passion was to give baby bibles to every child born and dedicated in church with blessings and also Make "Roll Call" she calls all her children and grandchildren on daily bases to see how they are faring in lives. She never discriminated among her siblings, nephews, nieces, children or grandchildren. She was also a good friend, the best mother-in-law and above all, a mother to the motherless. \r\n\r\nConclusion\r\n\r\nIndeed, a great hero has fallen. We believe our mother Mama as we affectionately call her, is resting at bosom of the Lord and we hope to meet her at the resurrection.\r\n Mom, you are a phenomenal woman, a beautiful person who did an extraordinary job on earth, who actually made things happens for those you love and although you might not always feel it, you are loved and appreciated very well among your children, family , church family and grand- children and all including all the lives you touched . You will forever be LOVED. We love so much!
