Mary Louise Jefferson

–

Frederick, Maryland

Mary was a devoted wife and married Eugene Royal Jefferson on June 2, 1956; and lived in New York City; for over 40 years; where they had four children: Anthony, Raymond, Alicia and Rene including raising a number of adopted and foster children. Mary raised her children to know Christ and was a faithful member of Zion Temple Baptist Church, in Queens, N.Y.; and served as a "Willing Worker." She was employed by the Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) as a Custodial Supervisor for many years; and upon retiring she returned to her birthplace, Tarboro, NC; enjoying living among her relatives and close friends and having her first grandchild "Breanna," visit her each summer. After the birth of her second grandchild, "Ajahne," she departed the place she called "home" and moved to Bowie, MD; to continue to be a doting grandmother. In 2009; Mary finally settled down in Ranson, WV; with her youngest daughter enjoying her golden years.

Mary was very proud of her family, and was a remarkable cook. She enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends during get-togethers; holidays, birthdays or any chance to spend quality time. She was affectionately called, 'Mary J"; "Momma J"; "MJ" or "Mrs. Mary." She was known for her loving and caring-spirit that touch so many lives with pearls of wisdom and nuggets of truths (her ole' school ways) would inspire and/or provide a different perspective that always came from a place of love and support. Mary was also very feisty, direct and demanded others to live up to their true potential as she expected no less of herself; stating "In Christ All Things Are Possible." Her unmatched quick-wit and good sense of humor would put smiles on many faces. Although, her passing appeared sudden to many, she wanted her final days to be spent with family and friends who were touched by her and understood that the quality of her life far exceeds the quantity of time in which she lived. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her. Mary gave us love, courage, strength, hope and shared the word of "God" the most precious gift you can give!

Mary was a dedicated, loving mother, adoring grandmother, exceptional sister, aunt and a dear friend. She is survived by her Children: Anthony Jefferson, Raymond Jefferson, Alicia Jefferson and Rene Jefferson; Grandchildren: Breanna Louise Jefferson, Ajahne Sekou Lumumba Austin and Kennedy Scott (adopted grandchild); Siblings: David L.
