The late Madam Matilda Akweley Lamptey was born on October 23, 1944, to the late James Kwao Lamptey in Accra and the late Madam Mary Adjoa Ansah of Gomoa Nkrasa in the Central Region.
She spent her early childhood with her parents in Amadu at Accra, where she attended Sempe Methodist Primary School (also known as Freeman Methodist Church). She was a member of the Freeman Methodist Church. Madam Matilda Lamptey continued her middle and high school in Accra. After she graduated in school, she worked as a manager at Glamour Store in Accra.
Matilda loved what she did on her job. After a few years working at Glamour Store, Matilda then traveled to London where she lived and worked for a while. When she returned, she married and started a family. She was blessed with five amazing children, Francis Dausey, Ziad Zahabi, Isaac Paa Kofi Coffie, Grace Nana Akua Coffie, and Ruth Maame Aba Pappoe.
Matilda lived at Mataheko and she finally moved to Awoshie where she lived with her grandchildren and daughter. Matilda also helped with an organization that helped children in need. She then traveled to the United States to visit her daughter, and after a short illness, sadly Matilda passed away on November 12, 2022. She left behind five children, 22 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Our hearts are heavy and broken from losing such a great woman. Matilda loved her family very much. She was a great mother, mentor and Christian who loved God very much. She was loving and kindhearted. She will be missed, and her legacy will live on forever.
