Myrtle "Tootie" Twyman peacefully departed this life on September 11, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on January 22, 1940, in Scotland, a small Black community, to the late Temperance and Louis E. Vinson; she was the fifth of their children. Myrtle grew up alongside her brothers and sisters and attended school in Montgomery County.
In 1958, Myrtle married the love of her life, Samuel L. Twyman, and together they built a family rooted in love, faith, and devotion. Her children were the pride and joy of her life, and she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to their care and happiness.
To know Myrtle was to love her. She possessed the biggest heart and an extraordinary compassion for others. If you entered her home, you were certain to be fed before anything else. In Myrtle's eyes, once she met you, you were family. Her generosity, kindness, and welcoming spirit touched countless lives and created lasting bonds that extended far beyond blood relations.
Myrtle found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved cooking for those she loved, watching movies, listening to Rod Stewart, and spending time with family and friends. She was known for her quick wit, infectious laughter, an avid bingo player, and playful habit of bending the rules during board games. Her fun-loving personality brought happiness to every gathering, and her sense of humor created memories that her family will cherish forever.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory her daughters, Carrie Vinson and Amy Twyman; sons, Samuel Twyman (Debbie), Neal Twyman, Stanley Twyman (Misty), and Scott Twyman (Denise); sisters, Ida Vinson Halsey, Judy Vinson McRoy, and Candy Smith; brother, Leo Vinson; along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members, and many dear friends whose lives were enriched by her love.
Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents, Temperance and Louis E. Vinson; children, Alan Twyman and Temperance Lyles; grandson, Randy Twyman; and three brothers and two sisters.
Though her presence will be deeply missed, Myrtle's legacy of love, generosity, laughter, and unwavering devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her life was a testament to the power of kindness, the importance of family, and the joy of opening one's heart and home to others.
"Those we love don't go away; they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, and forever dear."
