Norma Estelle Lyles

Norma Estelle Lyles, daughter of the late Norman Lyles and Gussie Bowman Lyles, departed this life on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center in Frederick, MD under hospice care. Norma, affectionately known as "Bunch," was born November 19, 1926, in Lewisdale, MD. She was the second oldest of five children.

Norma received her education and attended school at Lincoln High School in Montgomery County. She was employed by GEICO Insurance Company, where she worked for 30 years until retirement. Norma was a dedicated member of the Pleasant Grove Christian Community Church in Damascus, MD where she loved to serve on the Kitchen Staff as well as the Women's Christian Service Council. She was also a former member of Hope Chapter #52 Order of the Eastern Stars.

Norma is survived by: her daughter, Denise Hudson of Brunswick, MD; two brothers, George Lyles of Damascus, MD and Bishop Merle Lyles of Ijamsville, MD; one sister, Louise Nickens of Damascus, MD; brother-in-law, Rudolph Lyles of Gaithersburg, MD; and four sisters-in-law, Audrey Lyles, Christine Dorsey and Laura Williams of Mt. Airy, MD and Shirley Moore (Paris) of Frederick, MD; three grandchildren, Apostle Harold Williams (Jonniece) of Martinsburg, WV, D'Angela Walker of Frederick, MD and Dajah Lockett of Rockville, MD; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by: her husband, Sterling Lyles; brother, Clifton Lyles; and sister, Doris Lyles.

The family will receive friends at Pleasant Grove Christian Community Church, 11225 Mountain View Road, Damascus, MD, with viewing at 10:00 a.m. and Homegoing Celebration of her life at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
