Treasure:

A Living Treasure Celebrating 91 Years of the Life and Legacy of Ola Isabell “Bobbie” Thompson

Ola Isabell “Bobbie” Thompson, 91, of Frederick, Maryland, peacefully transitioned from this earthly life on September 4, 2026. Born on September 20, 1934, in Ijamsville, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Elton Thompson and Flossie Hallman-Thompson.

For more than nine decades, Ola’s life told a story of family, strength, resilience, and love. Affectionately known as “Bobbie,” she was a beloved matriarch whose presence spanned generations and whose life became a treasured part of both her family and the Frederick community.

Bobbie was the fourth of eleven children, and from an early age, family and responsibility became important parts of her life as she became the next of kin to raise her siblings soon after her mother’s passing.

Ola attended Frederick County Public Schools and later worked as a domestic housekeeper for the Washingtonian Motel. She was a hardworking woman who understood the value of caring for what mattered most. Yet, beyond her work, her greatest joy was found in her family and in the simple moments that brought everyone together.

Bobbie loved a good gathering. Whether she was hosting a party, enjoying a backyard cookout, sitting among family and friends, or watching one of her favorite Westerns, "Gun Smoke", Andy Griffen, "Mash", Price is Right, and " I Love Lucy". She knew how to make ordinary moments feel special. Her home and her presence became a gathering place where stories were shared, laughter was plentiful, and memories were made. Those moments are now part of the legacy her family will carry forward.

Throughout her 91 years, Ola witnessed generations grow, families change, and the Frederick community evolve around her. Her longevity and place within the community were recognized when she was honored as a Living Legend Treasure by AARCH of Frederick County, a distinction that beautifully reflected a life worthy of recognition, remembrance, and celebration. She was also recognized as one of the longest-living residents of Lincoln “Phebus” Apartments, a community she called home for many years.

Legacy:

Ola leaves to cherish her memory her children, Robert “Robbie” Bowens (Brenda), Debra “Debbie” Woodyard, Evelyn “Mouse” Thompson, and Wayne Lyles; grandchildren, Timothy, Lakia (Jay), Markeia (Marty), Larnell, Nikki, Shauna, Chatia, and Montre; great-grandchildren, Makayla, Quantae, Jakiyah, Ja-Nisha, Taz’Janna, Tej’anay, Martinez “MJ,” Aamir, Malahki, Genesis, Lemeir, Aniyah, Sa’myiah, and Axton; great-great-grandchildren, Aisha and Kaiston; special nieces and nephews near to her heart, Trish, Shekia, Karleas, Karl, and Silas; and a host of other relatives and extended family members.

She also leaves behind many special friends who will deeply miss her, including Diane Vanderheart, Sara Chandysoth, Michelle Myres-Alicea, Terri Snowden, Anthony Cartnail, and the "252 Out Back Neighbors". Their friendship and love added meaning and joy to her journey.

Heavenly Reunion:

In addition to her parents, Ola was preceded in death by her longtime partner, Julius "Buzzie" Snowden; sisters, Rosetta, Myrtle, Evelyn “Bessie”, Helen “Boonie", LolaMae, Ruth Ann "Jennie" and Mary “Cookie”; brothers, Marion, Robert “Dickie”, Clarence “Jump Steady”, and Charles “Charlie Buck”; brothers-in-law, Charles "Joc" and Charles "Pops"; nephews, David, Clarence “Jean-Jean”, Charles “Buck”, and Richard “Peanut"; nieces, Joesphine “Tink”, Shirley, and Delores “Mooda”; granddaughter, Ashley Ward; and sons-in-law, Tyrus “Ty” Onley and David Woodyard.

It Is Well:

Though her earthly journey has ended just weeks before what would have been her 92nd birthday, the love she gave during her 91 years remains. Her chair may now be empty, but her place within this family can never be filled.

The family extends heartfelt appreciation to Hospice of Autumn Lake (Frederick, MD) and its dedicated employees, including Hilda, Ilana, Taniesha, Dux, Crystal, Jennifer, and Carin, for the care, kindness, and compassion shown to Ola and her family.
