Patience De Souza Obituary (1947

Patience Ama de Souza, 70, passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick, MD. She was born on December 28, 1947 in Palime in the Republic of Togo. She was the second child of Bernard de Souza and Gladys Hayibor. At a very early age, she was taken over by the Laney family to be brought up in an environment where she could learn British ways of cooking, dressing and studying. Patience attended Keta E.P. Girls school from 1953-1967. After that she enrolled in Ficego Business College to study typing and shorthand. In 1969 she was employed by the ministry of Health in Accra where she worked in the medical field unit, traveling to various towns to give immunization vaccination. Before leaving for the United States, in 2000 she worked at the Manprobi Polyclinic in Accra as an immunization field technician. Patience took a course in Atlanta, GA to become a CNA in 2004 and worked as a nurse's aide. She worked in nursing homes in Atlanta, GA, Alburquerque, NM and Arizona, caring for elderly patients. Patience is survived by: five children, Richard, Shywill, Patrick, Bernard and Cynthia; her brother, Hector; two sisters, Doris and Innieze; 10 grandchildren; and a host of family and friends. Services will be held Friday, September 21, 2018 at the Gary L. Rollins Funeral Home, 110 West South Street, Frederick, MD 21701 at 11:0 AM. Minister Eric Rollins, officiating.
