Rita Ann Anderson

–

Steelton, Pennsylvania

Rita Ann Anderson, daughter of George and Bettye Dodson, was born December 22, 1939, in
Bluefield, West Virginia.

Rita was educated in the public school system of Bluefield. In 1958, she married her high school
sweetheart, L. Eugene Anderson, moved to Brooklyn, NY, and from this union had two sons.
Rita was a loving wife, doting mother and hard worker. Rita worked in the field of healthcare for
over 40 years where she lovingly cared for patients in hospitals and long-term care facilities.

In 1975, new career opportunities led the family to Harrisburg, PA where they settled and raised
their sons to adulthood. In 1985, continuing her passion for caring for elderly and long-term care
patients, Rita moved to Frederick, MD where she worked for Homewood Nursing Home until her
retirement.

Shortly thereafter, Rita accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and was known to
lead many of her patients to Christ as they faced the end of their earthly lives. In addition to her
career, she thrived as an active member of the International Community Church where she served
faithfully.

One of her favorite weekly activities was enjoying church services with her sister Bonnie
and heading to their favorite restaurant, "Mountain Gate", after church service.

In 2013, due to health challenges, Rita left Frederick to return to Harrisburg to be cared
for by her son Marlon and daughter-in-law Karen.

On June 30, 2021, Rita passed away peacefully in her sleep at Frey Village Nursing
Home.

Rita leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Marlon Anderson (Karen) and Lynnwood
Scott Anderson; four grandchildren, Amber Anderson, Ashley Mannings, Qwamai
Brown, and Marlon Anderson II, and a host of great-grands, nieces, and nephews.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents, George and Bettye Dodson, siblings, Eloise
Thompson (Robert), Donna (King) Long, Bonnie Barnes (William), George Dodson
(Elaine), Marshall Dodson (Sue), and James Dodson (Daisy).
