Shirley B. Taylor took her final rest on September 30, 2022, in Arlington, VA.
Born March 22, 1962, she was the daughter of Sgt. Obie L. Taylor and Jeannine M. Taylor. Shirley made her grand entrance into the world in Evreux, France as the baby girl of the family with older siblings Jean-Roger, Veronique, and Sylvain. The family moved to Washington, DC when Shirley was a child and she graduated from St. Cecilia High School. Shirley worked for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) and proudly served as the station manager at the College Park and Forest Glen Metro stations.
Family and friends fondly remember Shirley as a vivacious spirit who brought love and laughter to every encounter. Shirley's love of animals (especially her pet cats, birds, and dogs), music, Lifetime TV, and Pepsi products was well known among family and friends. She was always ready for a good debate and was known for her frankness, which her niece Erica attributed to "her spicy French blood." Shirley also enjoyed crossword puzzles, crocheting, swimming, dancing, and spending time with those she loved. She made lasting memories teaching her nieces how to swim and making up silly songs for younger relatives. Shirley also had strong faith in God, and cherished attending services at local churches, including First Baptist Church of Glenarden and Reid Temple A.M.E. Church in Glenn Dale, MD. Shirley's energy was infectious and to know her was to love all of her!
Shirley is survived by: her siblings, Jean-Roger Clement (Debi) and Veronique Ganious; nephew, Darnell Sampson; nieces, Jeannine Green (Bernard), Erica Foye (Joshua), Ashley Pratt, and Brittany Pratt; and a host of great nieces, great nephews, family, and friends. Shirley was greeted in Heaven by: her parents, Sgt. Obie L. Taylor and Jeannine M. Taylor; brother, Sylvain D. Taylor; and brother-in-law, Eric Ganious.
Shirley's family and friends know this is not goodbye.... Instead, they say, "Ciao" and "See you later alligator" to a beloved sister, aunt, and friend.
2 Timothy 4:7 - "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith."
