Stanley "JR" L. Brown, Jr.

–

Frederick, Maryland

Stanley Leon Brown Jr., affectionately known as "JR", peacefully went home to be with the Lord on August 30, 2026. Born on May 17, 1961, he was the beloved son of the late Stanley L. Brown Sr. and Clara E. Brown.

JR received his education within the Montgomery County Public School system. He attended Monocacy Elementary School before entering Poolesville Jr Sr High School, where he proudly played on both the varsity basketball and football teams. He graduated with the class of 1979. He was offered a football scholarship to Mississippi Valley State University but chose instead to answer the call to serve his country by joining the United States Army. During his 13 years of dedicated military service, he served as a Military Police K-9 dog handler, training and caring for service units. While in the military he was awarded the National Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Noncommissioned Officer (NCO) Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, and Overseas Service Ribbon.

Following his Separation from the military, JR entered the workforce and earned his Commercial Driver's License (CDL). He became a professional semi-truck driver, a career he deeply enjoyed and dedicated himself to for nearly 25 years.

Growing up with a heart of gold, JR accepted Christ at an early age. He was a dedicated member of Mt. Zion UMC (now West Montgomery UMC), located at 21000 Beallsville Rd., Dickerson, MD. Outside of his faith and career, JR was passionate about fulfilling his lifelong dreams. At an early age, he dreamed of owning a Corvette, a goal he proudly accomplished. He belonged to several Corvette Clubs, including Gaithersburg Corvette Club, Baltimore County Corvette Club, Horsepower Bullies, and Vicious Vets. He was a proud member of the Freemasons. JR had a deep love for good food, dancing, Go-Go, and R&B music. He was an avid NFL fan rooting for his team the Washington Redskins (now Washington Commanders), but nothing compared to the simple joy of relaxing at home after many long days and hauls on the highway.

More than anything else, JR's heart belonged to his family. To him, there was no such thing as a "blended" family-they were simply his children and his family, whom he loved unconditionally. He always put his children first, providing wise guidance, deep devotion, and endless support. Whether attending a graduation, milestone birthday, or simply hanging out, he was always there to celebrate their lives.

JR leaves to cherish his loving memory, honorable mention, Donna Epkins, Victoria Jones, and Connie Benton; his children, Jerel Brown, Armon Brown, Trey Jones, Eniya Jones, Douglas Benton, Diamond Moore, D'Aries Moore, and Devin Moore; three sisters, Sharon L. Brown, Betty B. Brown Burton, and Christina E. Brown; nephews, Aaron Walker, Deon Walker, Donnell Walker, Anthony Brown, Lionel A. Burton II, and Darryl Talley; nieces, Shanon Davis, Miranda Brown, Twanda Brown, Keisa Hartidge, Erica Brown, and Edwina Smith; beloved grandchildren, Dominick, Tavion, Zion, Madison, Douglas Jr., Maliah, Jada, Jason, Dy'Lah, Draeden, Zariah, Genesis, and Dior; aunt, Hattie Williams; uncle, Clarence R. Tibbs; and a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley L. Brown Sr. and Clara E. Brown; sister, Clarice E. Brown; son, Robert Barconia; nephews, Warren L. Brown and Jimbo Walker; and niece, Arnisha Brown.
