Frederick, Maryland
Mrs. Thelma (Bobbie) Frances Jefferson, 77, of Frederick, MD, went on to Glory, Monday, August 23, 2021, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 21, 1943, in Sunnyside, MD, to the late Florence E. Thomas Wedge. She was the wife of the late Richard L. Jefferson.
Bobbie attended her family church, Sunnyside United Methodist Church, and, as of late, attended Asbury United Methodist Church and International Church of Christ (ICC). She graduated from Lincoln High School, Class of 1961.
Bobbie worked at Frederick County Department of Social Services, worked and retired from K-Mart after many years and later retired from Frederick County Public Schools after 20 years of service as a Community Liaison at Frederick High School and Monocacy Middle School. As the Community Liaison, Bobbie (known affectionately by staff and students as Mrs. "J") was afforded the opportunity to advocate and counsel many students, making a positive impact in their lives. Her students and family members were rarely called by their given name; to her, you were "Pumpkin," then you graduated to George, George #1, George #2, or Big George or Little George.
She truly missed spending time with her late husband "Richard" who was the love of her life. Family was first in her life. She loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews unconditionally and with a passion. She enjoyed spending quality time with family, friends, and her grandson, Rekhai (her BOODA), who lived with her. She will be fondly remembered for the "punches in the chest" felt by her son, grandsons, nephews, and many other men. She would say, "come here boy, let me see if you have a cardboard chest." She always had a story to tell of your past to remind you of what you did. And it wasn't always good.
She LOVED watching Westerns, The Masked Singer and CSI, watching and drawing God's creations, listening to inspirational music, reading, and spending time with her son's dog, "Kelo."
She is survived by her: son, Phillip A. Thomas, Sr. (Nikki) and daughter, Theresa M. Thomas (Jesus), both of Frederick; 9 grandchildren, Phillip, Reginald III, Ashley, Darren, Bianca, Davonta, Jade, Daejean, and Alexus,; 19 great grandchildren, Reginald, Zydia, Rekhai, Destiny, Daniel, Damien, Dillion, Dakenna, Damara, Kole, Kayland, Darren, Jr., Hayven, Harmoni Jade, Habari, Malachi, Brooklyn, Jahmir, and Ania; sister, Willa (Patsy) Thomas; and nephew (who was like her brother), Tyrone Thomas. She will also be remembered by: special friend, Patricia (Pat) Gaither, who is the last of the "Golden Girls," and daughter by another mother, Darlene Posey.
Besides her husband and mother, she was preceded in death by her: grandmother, Ada Ogle; aunt, Erma Thomas; uncle, Leonard Thomas; sister, Clara D. Harris; nephew, Franklin J. Harris, Sr.; and her special friend, "1 of the Golden Girls," Verla Carter.
