Teddy R. Lyles

–

Frederick, Maryland

Theodore Roosevelt Lyles, Sr., known to many as "Teddy", 79, passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2017, at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, MD. He was born April 29, 1938, in Frederick, MD, to the late Forrest E. Lyles, Sr. and Nettie Marie Hackey. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Fannie Marietta Lyles who passed away on January 27, 2012.

Teddy was a plumber by trade and spent most of his professional career working for Ben Lewis Plumbing, Inc. Before officially retiring, he worked for himself and helped countless people with their household repairs and plumbing needs.

In his younger years, he enjoyed pitching horseshoes, dancing and playing music with his family. His love for music grew over the years and he enjoyed writing and singing some of his own songs. He also enjoyed singing with his daughter Kathy. He was well respected in the community and was affectionately known by many as "Uncle Teddy". His infectious smile touched the hearts of many and could light up any room.

Teddy was a member of Woodbine Church in Woodbine, MD, where he often participated in praise and worship. Teddy's love for God, his family and others was evident in how he lived his life. He was a very generous man who was always willing to help others. He talked about the goodness of God and sang his praises wherever he would go. He would often lift both fists in the air in excitement about his Lord and Savior and how he saved him, delivered him and transformed his life.

He leaves to cherish his memory his children, William Morris (Stacy), Kathryn Gross (Russell), Theresa Lyles, Teddy Lyles, Jr. (Sandra), Rev. Thelma Nolan (Irvin), and Charles Lyles, Sr., (Sherry); brother, James "Jim" Lyles; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a large extended family and friends. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Forrest "Joe" Lyles, Jr. and Robert "Bobby" Lyles; and sisters, Helen Carroll and Catherine Lyles.
