Thomas William Crutchfield, Sr., 62, of Frederick, MD, departed this world on October 10, 2017. Born December 21, 1954 to the late Dewey William Crutchfield and Frances Mae Ecker, Thomas grew up in Frederick and later graduated from Thomas Johnson High School in 1972. Thomas then married Debra Edwards, his wife of 41 years. \n\nMany people knew him as the "Lance Man," working in sales for Jack and Jill Ice Cream, a job in which he recently retired. Thomas served as the 1st Vice Commander of the Amvets Post 2 and was a member of the Boonsboro American Legion (SAL) and Redman's Tribe 19. He was a loyal Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Orioles fan as well as an avid bowler himself, frequenting the Village and Arcade Lanes. Prior to his illness, Thomas loved playing poker, eating crabs and drinking Natty Boh. He also loved spending time with his friends at the Amvets. \n\nAlong with Thomas' wife, Debbie, left to cherish his memory are: his children, Thomas William Crutchfield, Jr. and wife Michelle and Kimmy Crutchfield Porter and partner David Beith; sister, Beth Baker; grandchildren, Austin, Tyler and Bailey "Boo Boo" Crutchfield and Chellsie Shoemaker; and a host of family and special friends of the Amvets Post 2. \n\nThe family would like to acknowledge Dr. Laurin, the staff at FMH and Ballenger Creek Center, and Hospice for their love and care. \nA memorial celebration will be held on Sunday, October 15 at 2 p.m. at the Amvets Post 2 farm. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorial contributions be made to the Sons of Amvets Post 2, Frederick or to Hospice of Frederick County.
