Tierra Patrice Avery Obituary (1980

Tierra Patrice Avery, daughter of Gloria Smith and Garrett Avery, Jr. was born October 6, 1980 at Edwards Air Force Base in California. She entered into the arms of the Lord on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Holy Cross Hospital, Silver Spring, Maryland. Tierra accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Stonewall, North Carolina and House of Prayer Baptist Church under Pastor Eddie Odell in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was in the background loving God and promoting God kingdom through her resources. Tierra received her education in Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland. She then became a Certified Nursing Assistant, which led her to her first job in the Oncology unit at the Virginia Hospital Center. During her time there, she was a blessing to many patients and their families. Because of her quiet but loving spirit, her mother was able to witness to both patients and their families. Tierra's tenacity and ambition led her to unsuccessfully attempt to complete her nursing degree at the University of Maryland and Grand Canyon University several times. Unfortunately, her failing health would not allow her to complete her studies. She was also very intelligent and would often surprise her mother with definitions of uncommon words and interesting facts about places she never visited. She was an "old soul: and it showed in her preference of music and movies. Tierra was passionate about her family members and leaves in "the afterglow" her son, D'Andre; parents. M/Sgt.
