Pastor Timothy L. Shockley’ Life Journey

Pastor Timothy L. Shockley, 58, of Frederick, Maryland, entered the presence of his Heavenly Father on October 23, 2024, after completing the call, the journey, and the mission that God had for him.

Born on July 22, 1966, in Salisbury, Maryland, to Oscar and Cleola Shockley, Pastor Timothy’s life was marked by his unwavering faith and dedication to others. He graduated from Snow Hill High School in 1984 and later earned his undergraduate degree and a Masters of Business Administration from Frostburg State University. He was also pursuing a Master of Divinity from Newburgh Theological Seminary. Committed to the well-being of his community, he became a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist through Jordan Peer Recovery, serving Maryland, DC, and Virginia, as well as a Certified Mental Health Crisis Specialist.

In 1993, Pastor Shockley was ordained as a Deacon at Ebenezer Full Gospel Baptist Church in Cumberland, Maryland. He was licensed as a Minister of the Gospel in 1996 and ordained an Elder in 2000. His steadfast service to the Kingdom led to his promotion in 2002 to Assistant Pastor of Ebenezer Full Gospel Baptist Church, where he faithfully served under the leadership of Bishop Dr. John B. McIntyre, Sr.

After traveling seventeen years from Frederick, MD to Cumberland, MD to serve, Pastor Shockley and his family joined New Dimension Worship Center (NDWC) in 2014. There, he served in various ministries, including discipleship, Christian education, leadership, marriage, and men’s ministries. In 2018, he was called to serve as Associate Pastor under the late Bishop Alexander J. Hardy, Jr., and Pastor Barbara Hardy. In 2021, Pastor Shockley was installed as the Senior Pastor of NDWC, a position he held with humility and dedication.

Known for his genuine love for people and passion for applying God’s Word to everyday life, Pastor Timothy was a man of integrity, creativity, and leadership. He had a deep love for mentoring, especially couples and men, encouraging them to live according to God’s principles. He also enjoyed collecting and reading comic books and spending time with his family.

Pastor Timothy is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Lady Angela (Phillips) Shockley, with whom he shared a total of 42 years of love and partnership. He also leaves behind to cherish his memory his: beautiful daughters, Minister Te’Andra Shockley-Akinola (Philip Akinola) and Deacon in Training Timmesha Shockley (future son-in-law, Stephen Acheampong); he cherished his role as a grandfather to, Aria Akinola; gave special thanks to his parents, Oscar and Cleola Shockley; beloved sisters, Tracy Byrd (McKeever Byrd Sr.) and Tamika McPherson (Kevin McPherson); sister-in-law, Darlene Ayres-Hall (Mike Hall); brother-in-law, Emmanuel Smith; nephews, McKeever Byrd, Jr., and Mario Byrd; nieces, Tashana Phillips, Francine Showell (Carlous Showell), and Denitra Purnell; goddaughter, Ashleigh Summers (Walter Summers); godson, Keenan Rawls; aunts, Ollie DeShields, Joyce Pitts, Bernice Parker, Irene Martin, Elise Milbourne and Josephine Phillips; uncle, Oliver “Sonny” Purnell; and a host of other special nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

To all who were impacted and touched by the life of our beloved Pastor, son, brother, husband, dad, nephew, cousin, brother-in-law, and friend, Timothy L. Shockley, be sure to answer the call that God has for you by first saying ‘yes’ to Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour and secondly by being the reason someone laughs, smiles, or finds joy everyday. We thank you for your prayers, kindness, and unwavering support over the years. Your words and actions meant so much to him, and to us.
