Tylise MaeDean Thompson Obituary (1961

Tylise MaeDean Thompson was born on March 23, 1961 to the late George A and Edith M. Thompson. She was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 10, 2021. Tylise was educated in the Frederick County School system and graduated from Frederick High School in 1979. During her senior year, she worked as a student intern at the Department of Energy, and was hired as a full time employee upon graduation. After many years of service there, she worked for the Montgomery County School System and for a Physicians Medical Group. Tylise retired due to illness in 2010. She suffered from kidney failure and was a dialysis patient for several years while on the kidney transplant list before receiving that call early one morning in 2017. The doctor called and said, "get here as quick as you can, we have a kidney for you!" What a blessing, no more dialysis!!! Tylise was a faithful member of Wayman AME Church, where she served as a Communion Steward, Usher, and Choir member. She was also an active member of Wayman's Women's Fellowship group and attended bible study as well as prayer meetings. She was a former member of Goshen United Methodist church and served as a Communion Steward there. In her formative years, Tylise was nurtured in the faith at Ebenezer United Methodist Church. She had close ties to the church and to her community, Centerville, until her death. Tylise was also involved with other faith groups, including a "SOAP" Bible Study, Women Pressing Higher, and The Interfaith Saints. Tylise enjoyed family gatherings and was often the first to get there to kick back, relax, and ready to get things going. If anybody asked Tylise if she had a favorite sport, she would say without hesitation, tennis. Not sure if her interest started when the Williams sisters came on the scene or not, but she was a true fan. She would get up early in the morning and stay up late at night so she wouldn't miss a match. Watching tennis was just one of her favorite pastimes she enjoyed with her mom. Tylise leaves to cherish her memories: two children, daughter, Tyra Thompson of Jessup, MD and son, Jordan Brown-Thompson of Frederick; sisters, Arlene Wims and Rev. Carol Roache (Rick), of Centerville, Diane Manuel (Wilson); brother, George A. Thompson, Jr.; and niece, Jill Thompson who was raised with her like a sister, all from Frederick; several other nieces and nephews including, Tamara Pierce, Timothy Wims, Darrell Wims, Tracy Wims, Rodney Hubbard, Tonya McCarther, April Manuel and LaSharna Jackson; and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by: sisters, Doris Thompson and Joyce Thompson; and brother, Steven Thompson. Tylise was a friend to many and will be truly missed by all who knew her.
